Senior Technician (Lighting Bias)

The purpose of the Production Department is to create and run technical aspects of Trinity Laban’s productions and related projects. The successful postholder will work in a collaborative environment with students, staff, external creatives, and companies to deliver the artistic vision within agreed timescales to the highest possible standards.

Members within the department work closely together to realise the potential of Trinity Laban’s productions and providing an environment for students to develop their creative practice. 

The successful candidate, while working primarily in lighting, will demonstrate a strong ability and willingness to work with other team members, and lead junior team members by example.

The Senior Technician will join the core production team, and the role will encompass supporting the Head of Production and Technical Manager in the day-to-day operational requirements. They will have strong lighting skills that encompass design, programming and operating, including experience of maintaining network infrastructure and follow safe rigging practices.

The candidate will lead the wider team when required across Trinity Laban’s venues. This will include drafting and coordinating schedules, booking meetings and tutorials, and allocating performance and rehearsal spaces.

Under the direction of the Technical Manager, they will take responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of lighting services at Trinity Laban, inclusive of regular maintenance inspections, PAT and other duties as required. 

Collaboration, creativity and a keen technical mindset are key markers for a success that will ensure the smooth delivery of productions and projects across Trinity Laban.

This post will include evening and weekend work during busy periods, as well as get-ins and get-outs.
